Poggio AmorelliCastellina in Chianti (Si)

Marco Mazzarini (above) is the proud proprietor of Poggio Amorelli, a small wine estate just 1 km north of Castellina in Chianti. Marco is an enologist, who also consults many other wineries around Tuscany.

Marco is currently rebuilding his wine estate, adding an additional vineyard, and has rebuilt the wine cellar completely. The stainless steel tanks are hooked up to a computer that automatically controls temperature thus making a purer and more homogenous wine.

Wines produced:

Chianti Classico Poggio Amorelli docg

Chianti Classico Riserva docg

Oracolo Rosso igt

The estate is within the Chianti Classico area, but the ground is also well suited for the French varieties such as merlot and cabernet sauvignon. In fact, this is evident considering the award winning “Oracolo” (named after Marco’s working horse). Marco Mazzarini has bought a terrain in Maremma and has the intention to produce Morellino di Scansano within a few years.
